SENIOR WELDING ENGINEER

A prominent automotive supplier is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer. This is a Full-Time, Permanent position offering competitive compensation, bonus opportunities, comprehensive benefits, paid holidays, and vacation time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Oversee the design, estimation, construction, and installation of all welding processes required for the production of new products, collaborating closely with suppliers and internal teams.


• Serve as the lead for assigned programs' Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.


• Develop welding techniques, procedures, and the application of welding equipment to address challenges in metal fabrication, leveraging knowledge of production specifications, metal properties, and engineering principles.


• Plan and execute research and development projects to innovate and test new fabrication processes and methodologies.


• Enhance existing or create new welding equipment.


• Formulate new or refine existing welding methods, techniques, and procedures.


• Prepare technical documentation resulting from research and development and preventive maintenance evaluations.


• Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding staff regarding specification limitations, material processes, and pre- and post-heating requirements involving complex alloys and unique fabrication techniques.


• Assess new advancements in the welding sector for potential application to current welding challenges or production workflows.


• Direct and coordinate technical staff in conducting inspections to ensure compliance with established welding protocols, standards, and testing requirements.


• Collaborate with personnel from other organizations, engineering teams, or clients to share insights, information, or provide technical guidance on welding issues.


• May engage in experimental welding to assess new equipment, techniques, and materials.


• Conduct annual Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) weld assessments.


• Fulfill any other reasonable requests from management.


• Contribute to a safe, clean, and comfortable workplace in alignment with the Occupational Health and Safety Act by adhering to the principles of the 5-S methodology (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize, and support).

QUALIFICATIONS:


• At least 5 years of experience in the automotive sector with a focus on welding technology, particularly in controls and robotics.


• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.


• Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.


• Capacity to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.


• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.


• Excellent analytical skills and sound judgment.


• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.


• A degree in Engineering or a Welding Engineering/Technology certification, along with an Associate's degree, is preferred.
