Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Geisinger Healthplex. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting patients and providers within the outpatient setting by performing basic direct patient care activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support patients and providers by performing basic direct patient care activities, including taking vital signs, weights, and assisting patients with ambulation, dressing, and undressing for examination.
  • Assist providers in setting up for minor procedures, gathering supplies and equipment, applying aseptic dressings, and opening supplies.
  • Obtain and accurately document patient information using the rooming tool within the electronic medical record.
  • Complete medication reviews and accompany providers and care team members during patient examinations, assisting as directed.
  • Provide support and assistance to patients as needed, reinforcing patient instructions to enhance patient understanding and adherence to treatment and plan of care.
  • Collect and prepare lab specimens, completing associated paperwork, forms, and documentation to expedite laboratory studies with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Report patient concerns and questions to appropriate care team members and follow through as directed.
  • Report all patient safety incidents or issues, patient and family complaints, serious events, and environmental hazards immediately to the supervisor.
  • Provide onsite service recovery as applicable or as delegated by the supervisor.
  • Complete Midas reports as per policy.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - Required
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience - Preferred
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months - Default Issuing Body
