The School District of Lee County is seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team across various educational facilities. This role involves conducting assessments, diagnostics, therapeutic interventions, and instructional support for students with speech and language impairments, ensuring compliance with individual educational programs as mandated by relevant educational regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in speech-language pathology.
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate and/or valid license in speech-language pathology.
  • Experience in managing departmental functions and staff is preferred.
  • Industry certification is a plus.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification is advantageous.

Other qualifications may be considered acceptable by the Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for language, articulation, voice, and fluency disorders, providing detailed reports.
  • Coordinate meetings and communicate with parents, educators, and administrators regarding eligibility assessments, IEP meetings, and consultations.
  • Engage in eligibility and placement committee meetings, Child Study Team discussions, and the development of pre-referral classroom strategies.
  • Create and update individual educational plans for students on your caseload annually.
  • Deliver speech-language therapy services as outlined in individual educational plans.
  • Collaborate with classroom educators, offering consultation and support.
  • Design therapy schedules that optimize instructional conditions based on student needs.
  • Prepare therapeutic materials for effective instruction.
  • Maintain attendance logs and document therapy progress.
  • Provide quarterly and annual progress reports for each student on your caseload.
  • Report compliance data and scheduling details to the data processing team.
  • Conduct reevaluations as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate and complete reporting as required by educational regulations.
  • Develop and implement communication boards, augmentative communication systems, and train users on these tools.
  • Support reading initiatives within the district.
  • Perform hearing screenings and make appropriate referrals for further evaluation.
  • Conduct speech-language and hearing screenings for students facing academic and behavioral challenges.
  • Execute Medicaid administrative claims activities as directed in accordance with established guidelines.
