Job Summary:

The School Nurse will be responsible for providing essential healthcare services to students, including direct care, emergency assistance, medication administration, and health education. The successful candidate will work independently with minimal supervision, applying intermediate-level knowledge to ensure student safety and academic readiness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care to students, including administering medications, giving intramuscular injections, and performing respiratory assessments.
  • Monitor and assess student health on a regular basis to differentiate between those who can remain in school and those who need to be excluded due to illness.
  • Maintain accurate health records and conduct regular health screenings, such as vision and hearing tests.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and healthcare providers to promote student health and create a safe school environment.
  • Provide health education to students, staff members, parents, and guardians on topics such as hand hygiene, nutrition, physical activity, and other preventive practices.
  • Perform mandatory reporting duties to ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Grade 117 - Licensed Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training required.
  • Grade 122 - Registered Nurse or equivalent education/training or is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year registered nurse, practical nursing or closely related experience is required. Experience in pediatric nursing is preferred.
Work Environment:

The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced school setting, interacting with students, staff, and parents on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, think critically, and communicate effectively in a team environment.
