Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Director for Financial Aid to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing daily management of financial aid and scholarships at the Law School, as well as providing financial aid counseling and support to prospective and current students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the execution of the Law School's financial aid and scholarship programs, including student counseling, debt management, awarding and processing scholarships, handling appeals, matching awards with donor funds, loan repayment, monitoring academic progress, and managing external awards and institutional loans.
  • Serve as the Law School's liaison with the University's financial aid office, assist Alumni Relations in donor stewardship, and coordinate with internal and external departments to ensure timely and accurate disbursement of financial aid and scholarships, complying with regulations.
  • Oversee the management and processing of the Law School's Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP).
  • Produce timely and accurate reports as it relates to financial aid and scholarship, including data analysis for the ABA report, US News report, and other annual reports.
  • Develop and deliver financial aid programming for students on financial wellness, budgeting, loan repayment, and other related financial aid topics.
  • Supervise and manage the Financial Aid Program Coordinator.
  • Other related functions within admissions and financial aid as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with five years of experience with progressively increasing responsibilities in student financial services, financial aid, and/or enrollment management or Master's degree with three years of experience.
  • Proven experience in counseling individuals with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple concurrent projects while working collaboratively with others.
  • Minimum intermediate Excel and data analytic capabilities demonstrating proficiency in examining, organizing, and reporting information in an accurate, timely and well-constructed manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • More than the minimum experience in financial aid and/or enrollment management including experience in data reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience working with graduate and professional students.
  • Experience working with UT Austin accounting platforms including: DEFINE, VIP, LASSO (NextGen), SFA, and other systems.
  • Experience with CRM databases, e.g., Salesforce, Slate, Blackbaud, ACES2, and Unite.

The salary range for this position is $70,000+ depending on qualifications.
