We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dental Surgical Technologist to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of the dental operative team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest level of asepsis and infection control in the operating room.
Key Responsibilities- Function as the clean/sterile team member on surgical cases, responsible for aseptic technique and counts of sponges, needles, and miscellaneous items.
- Assist under direct supervision and request of the surgeon in suctioning, maintaining a clean operating field, capturing radiographs, and safely passing instrumentation.
- Utilize knowledge of dental anatomy and surgical procedures to anticipate patient and surgeon needs before they arise.
- Assist the registered nurse with non-sterile, circulating duties, including sending lab work, specimens, and obtaining supplies for the sterile team and anesthesia.
- Perform cleaning and disinfection duties in the operating room and assure that all designated supply locations are restocked daily.
- Participate in peer review, research activities, and evaluation process of new equipment and supplies.
- High school graduate
- Minimum of 1 year Dental Assistant experience required, Ohio radiographer license required
- Demonstrates manual dexterity, versatility, and adaptability
- Demonstrates a theoretical and clinical ability to conform to standards of asepsis and infection control
- Possess ability to hear and respond appropriately to surgeon and co-worker requests
