Heavy Equipment Technician

Key Responsibilities:
The main goal of equipment maintenance is to ensure the repair and upkeep of production machinery; maintaining it in a safe and efficient operating state to meet production and quality objectives effectively and economically.
Establish prompt and precise communication with field personnel and dispatch teams.
Ensure the quality of repairs to reduce the need for rework.
Adhere to all governmental and corporate safety regulations.
Follow Human Resources policies diligently.
Evaluate shop tool needs to enhance work efficiency.
Identify and report any deficiencies to improve our preventive maintenance program's effectiveness and explore potential enhancements.
Engage in technical training with dealers or manufacturers and share that knowledge with fellow mechanics.
Interact daily with Internal Departments, Field Managers, Superintendents, and Field Mechanics.
This position is hourly and may require overtime as necessary.
Must possess adequate tools for the job, as the company does not supply industry-standard tools.
Maintain a clean and organized service truck.
Responsible for adhering to hours of service regulations, if applicable.
Ensure compliance with all Trimble/Telogis guidelines.
Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
Experience & Education/Certification:
A minimum of 1 year of field experience in repairing heavy construction machinery is required.
A high school diploma, GED, or trade school education is preferred.
A valid driver's license is mandatory.
Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
Must possess knowledge of all components of heavy construction machinery, including but not limited to diesel engines, power transmissions, hydrostatic drives, and hydraulic systems.
Ability to make quick and rational repair decisions.
Expected to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
Able to organize schedules, recommend machinery for repair as needed, and place parts orders.
Capable of giving and receiving written or verbal instructions.
Must be able to work independently and safely.
Willingness to learn and adapt to changes in the field.
Familiarity with Caterpillar Et/SIS, Volvo Prosis/tech tool, and Cummins InSite is advantageous.
Basic skills in OXY/Acetylene torch usage and Stick Welding (7018, 6010) are preferred.
