Position Overview

As a Marine Service Specialist at Boateka, you will be tasked with performing a variety of engine services, diagnostics, and troubleshooting across multiple engine brands and types (OB/IB/SD). Collaboration with our skilled mechanics is essential as you share insights and solutions to enhance our technical knowledge base. Effective communication with our inventory coordinator and management is crucial for ordering, receiving, scheduling, and installing components identified during inspections as needing replacement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine marine engine services, including 100-hour and 300-hour maintenance checks.
  • Perform mechanical inspections and possess a solid understanding of small boat mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Execute marine electrical system diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Repair or replace marine electrical wiring and components as necessary.
  • Identify and document missing or damaged components for replacement, utilizing appropriate parts catalogs.
  • Maintain accurate records of components needing replacement and submit inspection documents to the parts department for order processing.
  • Thoroughly document findings during engine troubleshooting, including identified parts and required repairs.
  • Follow specific job instructions and provide regular updates on task completion.
  • Handle and dispose of solvents, hydraulic fluids, oils, lubricants, paints, and fuels responsibly.
  • Safeguard valuable boat components while performing mechanical tasks.
  • Conduct sea trials of boats for inspection and diagnostic purposes.
  • Tow boats to and from ramps for sea trials.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in servicing marine outboard and inboard engines independently.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools for various engine manufacturers.
  • Strong knowledge of marine 12-volt systems, emphasizing efficient troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with standard mechanic tools and specialty equipment.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled setting.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards, including proper chemical handling and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Mercury, Mercruiser, PCM, Volvo Penta, Yamaha, Honda, or Suzuki engines.
  • Willingness to pursue Mercury Certification.
  • Possession of a Captain's License.

Work Schedule

Availability to work from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime as required to meet operational targets. Brunswick reserves the right to adjust shifts and work hours based on business needs.
