Job Description

Availity is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to lead our development team in delivering innovative solutions for the healthcare industry. As a key member of our technical leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the analysis, design, programming, debugging, modification, and delivery of software for commercial and end-user applications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, with experience in software development and/or architect solutions. You will be responsible for building relationships with clients, providing services to meet their needs, and taking responsibility for improving processes that negatively affect customer satisfaction.

You will also be responsible for analyzing trends in technology and assessing their impact on the business, providing solutions to address technology and business issues. This position has corporate functional leadership obligations and is responsible for supervising hiring, career development, and day-to-day team and project management.

The Software Engineering Manager will also be required to carry out other duties, projects, or activities as specified by their management. If you have a strong technical acumen, a deep passion for coaching, developing, and mentoring a high-performing work team, and experience in a Scrum Master or Project Manager function, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of 7-10 software developers, data engineers, and quality engineers
  • Facilitate Scrum Master responsibilities, leading daily stand-ups for each team
  • Manage a team of software developers and the tech stack is .NET and React
  • Work with both internal and external teams to deliver solutions based on the proposed roadmap
  • Lead overall delivery responsibilities and proactively work to reduce roadblocks the teams may encounter
  • Follow and promote Agile practices across multiple teams
  • Ensure that the teams participate in daily stand-ups, conduct retrospectives, code reviews, etc.
  • Define and track team metrics
  • Manage and monitor the percentage of each team's time dedicated to new development, maintenance, etc.
  • Analyze trends in technology and assess the impact of emerging technologies on product delivery
  • Coach software engineers with their current responsibilities and career aspirations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • 8+ years of relevant technical and business experience in IT systems development management in a technology and/or healthcare environment
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams and products in an Agile environment
  • Background in software development and/or architect solutions
  • Prior experience in a Scrum Master or Project Manager function
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients/vendors
  • Proven understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Proven understanding of web development methodologies, application design, navigation, and information architecture
  • Proven understanding of data modeling, relational databases, data structures, and design
  • Ability to launch and deliver multiple, concurrent IT projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading team in an AWS environment is a plus
  • Project forecasting experience is a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry is a plus
  • Hands-on development experience is a plus
