Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Provides intermediate customer service for library patrons, including virtual reference and chat venues.
    • Responds to intermediate and difficult resource questions.
  • Research and Instruction
    • Provides support for advanced questions in research resources and databases.
    • Instructs library patrons on accessing online catalogs, research guides, physical collections, and electronic reference databases.
  • Collection Management
    • Creates, maintains, and updates automated system records.
    • Processes routine and complex requests for library materials and information.
  • Special Collections and Archives
    • Provides special collections and archival information reference services.
    • Assists patrons with the use of Library resources and equipment.
    • Handles cash for services and enforces library guidelines/policies and general safety.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Updates unit-specific databases and spreadsheets.
    • Researches and gathers information for special projects.
    • May supervise subordinate staff and student employees.
    Requirements
    • Education
      • High school diploma.
    • Experience
      • Five years of related experience in a public, academic, or specialized library or archive.
    • Knowledge and Abilities
      • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
      • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
      • Basic keyboarding skills.
    • Preferred Knowledge and Abilities
      • General office practices and equipment.
      • Demonstrated computer competency, including Microsoft Windows, MS Office, and Internet services or applications.
      • Problem-solving skills, flexibility, and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and projects.
      • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
      Working Conditions

This position requires working evenings and weekends. Occasional overnight may be required. Position requires on-campus, face-to-face interactions. Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

Salary

$14.43/hourly
