Job Overview

Position Summary

Responsible for the installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of commercial audio and video systems under the guidance of a lead technician. Aids in assessing installation sites to determine appropriate work methods, tools, and materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executes all necessary design and installation tasks to establish functional AV systems.
  • Installs, services, tests, troubleshoots, and programs various Audio-Visual Systems including Extron, Bogen, and Cisco.
  • Determines layouts for closets and equipment racks, and installs audio/video equipment accordingly.
  • Programs, configures, loads, and tests control and DSP system codes.
  • Demonstrates leadership on job sites and acts as a liaison for clients in the absence of a Project Manager.
  • Provides client training as required.
  • Completes and communicates all necessary documentation daily before leaving the job site; responsible for maintaining job records as needed.
  • Undertakes all tasks required on-site to fulfill the complete scope of work agreed upon with the customer.
  • Responsible for the installation of various equipment including:
    • Projectors and screens
    • Speakers (wall, ceiling, or floor mounted)
    • Flat panel displays (wall or ceiling mounted)
    • Cameras (wall or ceiling mounted)
    • Microphones (table-top, ceiling, wireless)
    • Structural mounting and rigging
    • Rack fabrication and equipment staging
    • Enhanced Category 6 and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems, mounts, and necessary hardware
    • Outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping, and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing, and labeling cables to industry standards
    • Control programs (Extron) – Creation, testing, and implementation
    • Grounding infrastructure and performing grounding tests
  • Operates test equipment such as voltmeters, ohm meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, and impedance meters.
  • Collaborates in teams or independently to integrate various low voltage systems and complete commercial installation and service projects.
  • Participates in training and safety meetings, adhering to safety protocols at all times while utilizing necessary Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Engages in training sessions to maintain certification and knowledge of all required product lines.
  • Mentors junior technicians across various levels.
  • Maintains familiarity with industry standards including ANSI, EIA/TIA, and local and National Electric Code.
  • Performs work in both retrofit and new construction environments; implements cutovers as necessary.
  • Actively promotes and demonstrates an understanding of Logicalis' mission through behaviors consistent with the organization's values.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations, as well as Logicalis policies and procedures, reflecting honest, ethical, and professional conduct.
  • Upholds customer service expectations in all interactions.

Education/Experience/Technical Requirements/Certifications

Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable.

Education:

  • High School diploma or Technical Trade school certification.

Experience / Technical Requirements

  • Familiarity (or ability to quickly learn) with converging technologies (Video over IP).
  • Understanding of audio systems: sound reinforcement, paging, public address, background music, commercial intercom (Bogen), DSP, balancing, and gain structure.
  • Knowledge of video technologies: projector systems, video formats, and presentation design.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in communications infrastructure installation (fiber, copper, coax, hybrid).
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.

Certifications

One or more of the following certifications is preferred:

  • Bogen Nyquist IP Intercom Certified
  • Bogen Quantum Certified
  • BSS DSP Certification
  • Cisco CCNA
  • Extron AV Associate Certification
  • Extron Control System Certification

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work extended hours (overtime) as required; including nights and weekends.
  • Availability for on-call status as needed.
  • Commitment to safety protocols in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and perform additional tasks as required.
