Job Overview

Location: Hybrid/Washington, DC.

We are in search of a dedicated and client-focused cybersecurity expert to enhance our Department of State client's cybersecurity initiatives. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing the client's cybersecurity framework to implement cyber policies, delineate roles, manage operations, and ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the established security framework series to customize comprehensive cybersecurity policies tailored for a specific bureau. Advocate for robust security practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Design and execute a role-based cybersecurity training program for essential positions (SO, ISSO, ISSM, etc.). Create educational materials aligned with job responsibilities and foster security awareness across the organization.
  • Thoroughly document current cybersecurity processes and procedures. Analyze workflows critically to pinpoint areas for enhancement and increased efficiency.
  • Develop and sustain a comprehensive compliance tracking system for artifacts such as POA&M, ATO, and ISA. Ensure timely completion of tasks and proactively address risks.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of the Department of State's cybersecurity framework. Leverage this expertise to refine processes and provide guidance for the seamless integration of these principles within the CA software development environment.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 8 years of experience in process development, implementation, and enhancement within a software development context. Profound knowledge of cybersecurity in government contracting environments.
  • Capability to deconstruct complex processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose practical solutions.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in translating security requirements across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Government Contracting: In-depth understanding of U.S. government cybersecurity standards and regulations.
  • DOS FAM/FAH Knowledge: Familiarity with FAM/FAH and its applications in software development.
  • Valuable certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or other relevant security credentials.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile practices and their integration with security processes.

Clearance Requirement: Active Secret clearance.
