About the Role

Library Systems & Services LLC is seeking a skilled Cataloger to join our team and contribute to a high-profile collection discoverability project at a leading institution. As a Cataloger, you will play a crucial role in making unprocessed materials discoverable by creating bibliographic records in accordance with national and international standards, as well as local policies and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bibliographic Record Creation: Develop bibliographic records in accordance with RDA, DCRM, MARC, BIBCO/CONSER, LC/PCC Policy Statements, and NACO guidelines.
  • Original and Copy Cataloging: Perform original and copy cataloging tasks, ensuring consistency and quality in the creation of records.
  • Descriptive and Subject Cataloging: Assign LCC and NLM Classification, and subject terms from the MeSH Thesaurus.
  • Collaboration and Quality Assurance: Collaborate with other project staff to ensure records meet standards and maintain consistency and quality in the creation of records.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science
  • At Least 2 Years of Experience in Full-Level Original Cataloging
  • Demonstrated Experience with Cataloging and Authority Records
  • Familiarity with Subject-Specific Classification Systems
  • Experience with OCLC and Library Services Platforms (Ex Libris Alma Preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MeSH Subject Headings
  • Experience with the Ex Libris-Alma Library Services Platform
