The SMR-300, a small modular reactor utilizing pressurized water reactor (PWR) technology, offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with forward-thinking engineers dedicated to advancing the next generation of light water reactors for global deployment.
The reactor operator will play a crucial role in supporting system design engineers, instrumentation and control engineers, mechanical engineers, and simulator engineers in the development of SMR-300 systems. This position will provide essential operational insights to ensure the systems function effectively. Additionally, the reactor operator will collaborate with human factors engineering (HFE) and human-machine interface (HMI) teams to enhance the development of plant and engineering simulators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Examine system documentation, including P&ID and design specifications.
- Conduct operability assessments for systems, particularly during atypical conditions.
- Establish maintenance requirements and strategies for systems and components.
- Assist system engineers in crafting equipment specifications for safety and pressure-reducing valves.
- Analyze engineering simulator outcomes and aid engineers in resolving simulator issues.
- Provide operator insights during the development and review of HMIs.
- Contribute to the formulation of refueling procedures and ensure systems are equipped for shutdown and refueling activities.
- Support engineers in devising a radwaste management strategy and establish design requirements for solid radwaste operations.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on defueling and refueling procedures and review mechanical schematics to guarantee operability during refueling.
- Assist in the creation of Safety Analysis Report content and engage in regulatory interactions.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Commercial Nuclear Power Plant operations, specifically with pressurized water reactors (PWRs) as a reactor operator or senior reactor operator.
- Thorough understanding of PWR systems and their operational conditions across all modes.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate documentation.
- Proficient problem-solving abilities and computer skills.
- Eligibility to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or, alternatively, 12+ years of experience in Commercial PWR Plant operations.
