Critical Care Registered Nurse - Float Pool
Role Summary:
The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients in a high-acuity environment. This role emphasizes the provision of coordinated, safe, and compassionate care that is evidence-based and tailored to meet the unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their families. The RN practices in alignment with the Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics, and the established standards of nursing practice.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Compliance with any previously established agreements regarding educational qualifications.
- Preferred specialty certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required based on unit specifications.
The RN must possess a valid nursing license and have a minimum of one year of clinical experience. Alternatively, candidates may qualify with less experience if they have transitioned from a Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency Program. The RN is expected to meet the educational criteria set forth by the nursing unit during their employment. BLS certification must be maintained, and ACLS requirements are determined by the specific unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Nursing Practice: Conduct assessments, formulate diagnoses, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes. Ensure the continuity of care by updating and coordinating the care plan to meet patient goals.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for ethical and holistic care, ensuring that the rights, values, and beliefs of patients are respected in care planning.
- Educational Facilitation: Create a learning environment for patients, families, and healthcare team members, promoting both formal and informal educational opportunities.
- Safety and Quality Alignment: Uphold safety standards, identify and rectify issues, and integrate evidence-based practices into nursing care to enhance patient outcomes.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional growth, practicing within the legal framework of the Nurse Practice Act and adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics.
- Leadership: Demonstrate leadership within the practice setting and community, collaborating with colleagues and effectively delegating responsibilities.
- Educational Contributions: Participate in the planning and delivery of educational initiatives.

- Proficient in information technology, including electronic health records and communication systems.
- Able to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- Exhibit independent critical thinking in patient care delivery.

- Capable of managing multiple responsibilities and responding to urgent situations.
