Job Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently operate horizontal/directional drill rigs and associated locating equipment.
  • Conduct pre-job preparations to ensure safe and effective drilling operations.
  • Pothole utilities that may be affected during drilling activities.
  • Verify the presence and location of existing utilities.
  • Prepare drilling fluids by combining water with appropriate chemicals based on soil conditions.
  • Accurately navigate the drill head from the starting point to the target location while avoiding existing utilities.
  • Set up and connect necessary equipment for the bore shot completion.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments to develop strategies for working around utilities and obstacles.
  • Utilize the correct mud mixture to facilitate the successful retrieval of products during the bore process.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on drilling and mixing equipment.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of relevant operational experience.
  • Possession of a valid CDL Class A driver's license.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of experience in a similar role.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position requires working in a field environment, often necessitating physical activities such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods. Candidates should be prepared to work in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.

The physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, maintain clarity of vision at varying distances, and possess precise hand-eye coordination.
