About the Role

nLIGHT is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Camas, Washington. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining distributed IT services focused on computing and storage.

You will serve as a subject matter expert in edge compute, storage, hyperconvergence, cloud, and hybrid cloud technologies, providing technical guidance and support to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and configuring distributed IT services for computing and storage
  • Integrating technologies from 3rd parties with internal technologies
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in edge compute, storage, hyperconvergence, cloud, and hybrid cloud technologies
  • Communicating complex technologies to internal and external customers
  • Building and executing basic test tools to assess performance
  • Reviewing technologies to assess if they can meet DoD requirements for interoperability and security
  • Providing support for network connectivity or related network issues for both internal and external customers
  • Analyzing network activity, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving network problems
  • Assessing network performance to ensure it meets the present and future needs of the business
  • Providing network planning recommendations to management

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a computer-related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 12+ years in Systems Administration in a corporate setting
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi) in a production environment
  • Extensive experience with Systems Engineering, Network Engineering
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure as well as traditional NAS and SAN
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Windows Server
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with PC hardware and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Networking Devices (Switches, Routers, and Firewalls)
  • Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM), Tanium, or equivalent patch management and endpoint management tools
  • Experience with industry standards such as: NIST/CMMC, DoDI RMF, ISO 27001, etc.

nLIGHT offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including a starting salary of $100,000 to $125,000 annually, a target cash bonus of 5% of wages, and eligibility for Restricted Stock Unit grants.
