About the Role

nLIGHT is a leader in the design, development, and production of innovative laser technologies and products. We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer who will own the design of electrical subsystems for high-energy laser systems in support of new technologies and products that contribute to our country's expanding defense needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in power electronics, switch mode power supplies, and power systems distribution. They will also have excellent troubleshooting skills related to complex electro-optic systems and be proficient in schematic and layout tools, such as Altium Designer.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing electrical subsystems for high-energy laser systems, including power electronics, control systems, and electrical product requirements. They will also conduct detailed electrical design reviews and electrically driven code reviews across cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical subsystems for high-energy laser systems
  • Develop high-performance solutions for challenging design spaces
  • Conduct detailed electrical design reviews and electrically driven code reviews
  • Generate complete electrical design packages, including detailed schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisition forms
  • Assemble design hardware, integrate into large laser system, and qualify through detailed bring-up/test plans

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience as an Electrical Engineer
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline
  • Experience with power electronics, switch mode power supplies, and power systems distribution
  • Strong troubleshooting skills related to complex electro-optic systems
  • Proficient in schematic and layout tools, such as Altium Designer
