Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist

At The University of Chicago Medicine, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of medical innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic imaging studies as assigned, applying principles of radiation protection and exercising professional judgment in the performance of imaging procedures.
  • Provide necessary patient care during the course of imaging procedures, including positioning patients, selecting proper technical factors, and utilizing computer systems to record patient status.
  • Function proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality, assisting physicians in performing imaging studies, and preparing contrast media for administration to patients.
  • Work independently in assigned areas, practicing radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients, and handling patients in conformance with established safety procedures.
  • Process images and patient records in conformance with established operational procedures, recognizing patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiating life support measures where appropriate.
  • Instruct patients in exam procedures, maintaining awareness of and responsiveness to physical and psychological needs of patients under their care.
  • Maintain technical imaging equipment in proper working condition, reporting malfunctioning equipment or housekeeping issues to appropriate personnel, and keeping equipment and work areas clean and neat according to current 5S standards.
  • Participate in continuing educational programs to maintain and upgrade technical skills, contributing to the orientation of new staff technologists and student technologists as required.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school for radiologic technologists.
  • Current certification by ARRT (VI) - Vascular Interventional and licensure by the State of Illinois (IEMA).
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work effectively with other staff members who make up the team providing care to patients.
