The City of New York is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Mailroom Associate to join our team. As a Mailroom Associate, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our mailroom, handling incoming and outgoing mail, and providing exceptional customer service to our staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Sort and log incoming mail, ensuring timely delivery to the appropriate departments.
- Deliver packages and mail to various departments within the office or to external agencies.
- Maintain shipping and mail supplies, including envelopes, tape, stamps, and postal supplies.
- Handle outgoing packages, packing items, and ensure proper labeling and arrangement for pickup from the post office, UPS, FedEx, or other carriers.
- Process certified, priority express, and other correspondence requiring postage via the Pitney Bowes ConnectPro 3000 mail machine and deliver to the post office.
- Process pension systems, worker's compensation, board of elections, office of labor relations, and FMS vendor's checks via USPS PostalOne system and folder sealer equipment.
- Provide photocopy services to FISA-OPA personnel.
- Issue supplies to the agency's photocopying equipment and promptly place service calls for any malfunctioning equipment.
- Act as backup to the agency Fleet Coordinator as needed.
Candidate Requirements:
- Valid and clean NYS driver's license.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Skills:
- Permanent employees in the Clerical Associate title (or comparable title) are eligible to apply.
