About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Manager to join our team at Primary Recruiting Services. This role will be based in our Chicago headquarters and will play a critical part in our tax advisory, compliance, and transformation processes for real estate investment funds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tax advisory services to our real estate investment funds, including transfer pricing and general tax compliance support.
  • Monitor federal and state tax legislations and provide recommendations to our tax director on potential impacts.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to streamline tax reporting, compliance, data retrieval, and storage processes.
  • Assist with responses to federal and state tax audit queries.
  • Manage third-party tax advisor relationships to provide oversight and quality assurance.
  • Supervise the Americas tax manager and temporary consultants.
  • Research and provide guidance on substantive tax issues, including REIT rules, partnership tax return rules, tax treaties, and fielding questions from fund teams.
  • Prepare and review tax modeling calculations for inbound investors.
  • Review and negotiate tax provisions in joint venture and purchase/sale agreements.
Requirements
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in industry or public accounting, with real estate and partnership tax compliance experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and quality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with external and internal clients.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving and quantitative skills.
  • Experience with various tax technology solutions preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong sense of ownership, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables with an ordered and structured approach.
