Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Overview:
This Facilities Maintenance Technician role is situated within the District One Headquarters Office. The position operates under the guidance of the Physical Plant Supervisor II and entails semi-skilled work that necessitates significant judgment to identify malfunctions and issues. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep of buildings and grounds, selecting appropriate repair parts and materials, and employing suitable methods and procedures for the intricate systems within these facilities.
Key Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining grounds, managing vegetation, and clearing snow and ice from walkways.
- Servicing, repairing, or replacing electrical appliances or components.
- Monitoring various mechanical and electrical system controls, meters, and gauges to ensure proper operation and acceptable environmental conditions throughout the building.
- Performing miscellaneous maintenance and repair tasks related to plumbing, lighting, electrical wiring, painting, masonry, carpentry, etc., throughout the facility.
- Installing and repairing lights, emergency backup lights, and other electrical services.
- Executing other duties as assigned, including assisting with repair and maintenance of facilities and grounds at various locations.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Six months of experience in a building trade or mechanical building trade.
- Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
- Valid Driver's License at the time of appointment.
Post-Offer/Pre-employment Requirements:
- This position is subject to pre-employment physical testing. The selected candidate will be required to pass the screening as a condition of employment.
- Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required in accordance with Executive Order. Each applicant selected for a State of Kansas job vacancy must apply for a Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days from the date of the offer letter.
