Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Department of Dermatology. As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive, continuous, and personalized patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations in an outpatient clinical setting.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct thorough histories and physical examinations for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests to inform treatment decisions.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records to ensure continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and members of the care team to deliver high-quality patient care and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans to promote informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision-making using evidence-based practice principles.
  • Participate in research and development projects to advance the field of dermatology and improve patient care.
  • Contribute to the education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students, and medical students to ensure the next generation of healthcare professionals is equipped to provide excellent care.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active Kentucky and Ohio APRN licenses with prescriptive authority.
  • Active board certification in a relevant nursing specialty and as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Three years of nursing experience, with at least one year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in general dermatology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional nursing experience in hospital or ambulatory settings.
  • Additional experience as an APN in hospital or ambulatory settings.
  • Flexibility to work at various clinical sites based on departmental needs.
