Under guidance and in accordance with established protocols, you will conduct precise and efficient diagnostic imaging examinations across various modalities. You will demonstrate proficient clinical skills to provide optimal images for interpretation while adhering to radiation safety principles when applicable. Always uphold the Corewell philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.
- Perform high-quality diagnostic imaging exams in areas where competency has been achieved.
- Utilize hospital computer systems effectively for order verification, schedule viewing, and managing patient worklists, including sending information and images to PACS.
- Ensure accurate patient identification and physician order verification.
- Gather comprehensive patient histories and promptly communicate STAT requests to radiologists.
- Conduct imaging procedures and related patient care using age-appropriate techniques, considering patients' physical and mental limitations to ensure safety.
- Adhere to universal precaution standards and maintain cleanliness of equipment and examination rooms.
- Implement ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure for patients, staff, and yourself.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical personnel, and colleagues.
- Assist senior technologists with assigned tasks.
- Work in designated areas of the department where competency has been established, under indirect supervision.
- Operate under direct supervision in fluoroscopy areas, including endoscopy and surgical procedures.
Education / Training:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, or Ultrasonography program at the second-year level.
- Training can be acquired during student status.
- Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association and/or American Red Cross.
