We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner Pediatric to join our team at Methodist Children\u0027s Hospital. As a vital part of our patient care team, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory therapy and be able to perform a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures. You will also be responsible for monitoring patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and assisting with placement of artificial airways.

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner Pediatric, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care. You will be responsible for administering respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways.
  • Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response.
  • Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP).
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or Associate Degree, or Bachelor\u0027s Degree, or Master\u0027s Degree, or Vocational School Graduate must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
