Role Responsibilities

The Retail Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing retail staff and managing the retail events program at Mox Boarding House. This position entails providing direction and supervision throughout the entire process of organizing a tournament or event, including but not limited to event planning, scheduling, sanctioning, and execution. The Retail Operations Supervisor leads by example, ensuring a positive customer experience aligned with our core values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with retail management to recruit and maintain a team of Community Hosts for all events.
  • Oversee the performance of the store's event program and employee participation, focusing on Community Hosts.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of our primary product lines.
  • Support and provide coverage for staff managing events as necessary.
  • Work with Store Managers to ensure adequate staffing or additional support for scheduled events.
  • Create, update, and maintain event checklists that cover all aspects of effective event management, tailored to each event type.
  • Upload competitive deck lists to relevant platforms.
  • Compile and report on completed and upcoming events, providing management with key insights into the effectiveness of tournaments and events.
  • Manage event budgets, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines set by management.
  • Engage proactively with our customer base to understand community needs and identify passionate individuals to enhance our Community Host team.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Washington MAST Alcohol Server Permit.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail or a combination of event coordination, tournament organization, and customer service roles.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of various games and game types suitable for group events or tournaments.
  • Desire to deepen game rules knowledge and enhance event facilitation skills.
  • Motivated to create innovative events that drive sales and attendance.
  • Commitment to continuous learning about current and upcoming product releases.
  • Genuine interest in gaming and creative play.
  • Adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously and adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in group settings.
  • Aptitude for providing constructive feedback to uphold service standards.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard business hours, including weekends and overtime.
  • Familiarity with Trading Card Games and/or Hobby Gaming.
  • Certified Level 1 Judge for Magic the Gathering (preferred).
Work Schedule

This position is full-time and requires on-site presence.
