We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Flatiron Construction. As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in the success of our projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Project Coordination: Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedules and confirm that all materials, equipment, and resources are readily available for production to continue on schedule and within budget.
- Quality Control: Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data throughout the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
- Technical Input: Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
- Project Monitoring: Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance and document daily activities in Company-approved methods and technologies.
- Reporting: Update project schedules weekly for owner and management reporting and attend weekly owner meetings to present on project production status as needed.
- Additional Assignments: Perform additional assignments per management's direction.
- Work Plan Management: Prepare and manage a three-week work plan, notifying engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and developing solutions to mitigate delays and cost.
- RFI Management: Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed by the project.
- Project Financials: Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported and manage invoicing with Company accounting team regarding materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
- Quality Assurance: Support the engineering team with quality assurance as needed, reviewing certificates and permits needed to perform work and participating in all worksite tours with leadership or external parties.
- Safety Management: Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all construction personnel and participate in all weekly safety meetings with field teams and project leadership.
- Estimating Support: Assist the estimating team with project schedule, budget, and cost parameters by providing technical input as needed.
- Design Support: Assist in the development of design drawings and provide technical input as needed.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule, and crews as needed.
- Project Close-Out: Reconcile job close-out checklists with owner representatives and field crews at the end of the project.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- Experience: 3+ years of construction engineering experience required.
- Skills: Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e., cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction technology, process systems, and/or structures preferred.
- Certifications: Possess verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of design-build and other alternative build techniques, financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods, and cost coding.
- Soft Skills: Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others.
