Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Records Management Clerk to join our team at Arapahoe County. As a Records Management Clerk, you will be responsible for performing administrative and customer assistance duties, including forms processing, data entry, cash balancing, and record keeping related to the registration and issuance of birth and death records and the issuance of burial permits within the County.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and maintain accurate records of birth and death certificates, including examining certificates for accuracy and completeness and making corrections or resolving discrepancies.
  • Respond to requests for birth and death certificates and disposition permits via the Internet, telephone, mail, fax, and in person.
  • Issue certified copies of birth records, access on-line CDPHE vital statistics records, and verify qualifications of recipients.
  • Issue permits to mortuaries for disposition (burial, cremation, etc.) and issue sealed death certificates in the absence of the Deputy Registrar/Assistant Deputy Registrar.
  • Collect and reconcile fees, issue receipts, and run daily reports as necessary.
  • Perform routine clerical duties related to the issuance and processing of certificates and permits, including answering phones, typing, searching files, filing, data entry, and record keeping.
  • Maintain statistical records of transactions.
  • Deliver death certificates to funeral homes in the metro area.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year experience in general office or customer service.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfies the requirements of the job will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bi-lingual Spanish strongly preferred.
Work Environment

The work environment is generally confined to a standard office environment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this job include sitting for 90% of the time and standing or walking for 10% of the time. Occasionally lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing up to 20 lbs. Occasionally using a cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 20 lbs. Occasionally climbing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, reaching, crawling, and crouching while performing office or work duties.
