We are seeking a highly qualified Medical Assisting Lecturer to join our team at the University of Hawai'i, Kapi'olani Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Medical Assisting program, assessing student learning, and working under the supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson.
Responsibilities:- Teach courses in the Medical Assisting program, including online, evening, and weekend classes.
- Assess student learning in terms of course competencies and program learning outcomes.
- Prepare course syllabi and reports related to teaching and student progress.
- Maintain one office hour per week for each class taught.
- Master's degree in a health-related field AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). OR
- Baccalaureate degree in a health-related field AND 3 years healthcare experience including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). OR
- Certification as a Medical Assistant AND a Baccalaureate degree in any field AND 3 years healthcare experience including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). OR
- Associate Degree in Medical Assisting or health-related field AND 5 years healthcare experience including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). OR
- Certificate in Medical Assisting with 30 or more related college credits AND 7 years healthcare experience including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
- Work experience related to the course to be taught.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively.
- Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction.
