Job Overview

Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of designated areas. The role requires availability for evening shifts from 5 PM to 1:30 AM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains and cleans buildings and facilities, performing extensive cleaning tasks such as floor maintenance, carpet shampooing, wall washing, and waste removal.
  • Reports to management regarding the need for repairs or enhancements to building systems.
  • Establishes and nurtures effective communication and working relationships with clients, colleagues, supervisors, and management.
  • Adheres to all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards set by the company, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Exhibits flexibility and readiness to undertake all assigned tasks.

Specific Duties

  • Conducts floor cleaning through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming, following proper procedures for chemical cleaners and equipment to avoid damage.
  • Utilizes ladders to dust and clean furniture, walls, machinery, and equipment; also cleans ceilings and polishes light fixtures.
  • Moves furniture and equipment to access cleaning areas, using manual methods or hand trucks.
  • Removes stains from various surfaces using appropriate cleaning solutions and techniques.
  • Prepares cleaning solutions by mixing water with detergents or acids according to specified guidelines.
  • Strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors as required.
  • Cleans and vacuums carpeted areas, including spot treatment as necessary.
  • Collects and disposes of trash and waste materials.
  • Cleans and sanitizes surfaces in food service areas.
  • Polishes furniture and fixtures to maintain a clean appearance.
  • Services and maintains restrooms to ensure cleanliness and supply availability.
  • Periodically cleans overhead vents and dusts blinds, maintaining overall cleanliness.
  • Utilizes appropriate cleaning methods for glass surfaces, including windows and mirrors.
  • Applies insecticides and fumigants to prevent pest infestations.
  • Prepares facilities for events by setting up and removing decorations and furniture.
  • Maintains an organized janitor's closet and ensures all cleaning equipment is in good working condition.
  • Requests necessary supplies and equipment for cleaning tasks.
  • Monitors building security by performing tasks such as locking doors after hours.
  • May be required to operate vehicles for cleaning assignments.
  • Performs minor repairs as needed.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
