Job Summary:

QPS Employment Group is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at a company in Lincoln, NE. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles, including Mack trucks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition and identify worn or damaged parts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance schedules, install component and part upgrades, and control corrosion to keep equipment available for use.
  • Repair and replace major assemblies, subassemblies, components, parts, or systems, including power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering hydraulics, and machine shop operations.
  • Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
  • Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

Requirements:

  • Requires a vocational/technical diploma or three to six months related work experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Previous experience working on diesel Mack trucks is preferred.
  • A valid CDL driver's license is preferred or must be able to qualify and obtain a CDL within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the company's insurance plan.
  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule and able to work nights and weekends.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to shoulder height.
