Job Summary
MaineGeneral Health is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Nurse to lead our team on 3 South, an inpatient behavioral health unit at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. This state-of-the-art unit was designed with staff and patient input, providing a unique environment for safe, innovative, and supportive care.
About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled nurse leader to manage the nursing staff and operations within our behavioral health unit. As a Behavioral Health Charge Nurse (RN), you will provide clinical leadership, ensure high standards of patient care, offer support to the nursing team, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Nursing Leadership: Supervise and mentor nursing staff during assigned shifts, ensuring effective teamwork and collaboration.
- Staffing Management: Determine staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, abilities, census, and patient acuity, balancing fiscal responsibility.
- Patient Care: Provide direct patient care as needed, float between staff to assist with problem-solving, and may take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
- Clinical Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues affecting desired outcomes, responding to complaints through established channels and collaborating with colleagues when necessary.
- Operations: Perform responsibilities of the underlying role, including entering orders, handling admissions or discharges, coordinating transfers, and ensuring staff has necessary equipment and supplies for safe patient care.
Your Qualifications:
- A valid Maine RN license or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion.
- At least 3 years of acute care RN experience serving this patient population.
- BLS and MOAB certifications (preferred).
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to operate effectively in a healthcare environment with inherent stressors.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience
