Position: Procurement Specialist
Overview:
The Procurement Specialist plays a vital role in assisting the Marketing Category Manager in achieving strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop expertise in Tyson Foods' Marketing & Sales categories.
2. Collaborate with Senior Managers and the Supplier Management and Category Management Teams to categorize suppliers and maintain an updated database for annual evaluations.
3. Provide analytical support for the Supplier Performance process, ensuring compliance with the established Statement of Work (SOW), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Identify performance gaps and propose improvement strategies as necessary.
4. Partner with various Procurement teams to foster effective supplier relationships, addressing critical needs.
5. Organize and facilitate Supplier Business Reviews, ensuring clear communication and collaboration between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
6. Work alongside cross-functional teams to manage complex supplier transitions, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
7. Implement and adhere to company-wide Supplier Quality policies and procedures, supporting audits as required.
8. Assist in the qualification and testing of new suppliers as needed.
9. Maintain effective communication with internal customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to enhance relationships.
Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years in Procurement, Marketing, Supplier Management, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with eProcurement Source-to-Pay tools is advantageous; experience in spreadsheet, database, and statistical analysis is preferred; knowledge of Supplier Performance & Risk Management tools is beneficial; proven ability to learn new applications.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication abilities are essential.
Specialized Skills:
Understanding of supplier quality and risk management policies, regulatory compliance, and the ability to build productive relationships with customers and vendors. Demonstrated conflict resolution skills, risk assessment capabilities, and a solid grasp of procurement governance and processes. Strong analytical skills to interpret data and complex issues effectively. Excellent customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
Supervisory Skills:
Ability to influence others without direct authority.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional domestic travel may be required.
