Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering essential nursing care to patients by working closely with registered nurses (RNs), medical assistants (MAs), and healthcare providers. This role involves gathering patient data, planning care, educating patients, and executing care in a safe and effective manner, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the State of Maine Nurse Practice Act and the Nursing Code of Ethics.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Education: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.

Licensure/Certifications: Current State of Maine Nursing License or eligibility for licensure.

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as an LPN is preferred.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Proficient understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.

Familiarity with healthcare systems, regulations, policies, and operational functions.

Comprehension of documentation standards.

Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.

Ability to interpret and follow both written and verbal medical instructions.

Competence in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Capability to perform calculations for medication dosages accurately.

Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and diverse patient groups.

Strong computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records.
