Job Title: Operator Technician

At Trivium Packaging, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operator Technician to join our team. As an Operator Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our equipment, meeting customer requirements, and maintaining a high level of quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comply with safety policies and practices, participating in the plant Safety Program and reporting any incidents or near misses.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to 5S principles and performing daily housekeeping activities.
  • Adhere to quality standards and procedures, supporting the positive release program and promoting quality within the operation.
  • Inspect manufactured product, follow quality protocol when defects are discovered, and adjust machines to minimize defects.
  • Monitor, maintain, and adjust machines during continuous production to prevent stoppages and minimize waste.
  • Use and read measuring and quality inspection devices as required.
  • Complete charting and document production activities to meet or exceed quality standards.
  • Work with team members to recommend process improvements and support continuous improvement teams.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including BRC Food Safety Policy, GMPs, HACCP Principle, ISO14001, and OSHA rules.
  • Participate in the development of SOPs and work instructions as required.
  • Operate and/or work around highly automated systems, including robotic equipment.
  • Understand and operate multiple production machines to safely produce a sound quality product and ensure overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Perform and accurately document daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks.
  • Provide break relief as needed.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • 2+ years experience in high volume manufacturing preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess excellent teamwork abilities, organizational skills, and problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Basic computer & math skills needed to read and interpret drawings, review specifications, review work instructions, and report line performance.
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work all shifts, including 8 or 12-hour shifts, daylight, and off-shifts, as well as weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to adapt to changing initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of measuring devices.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to handle and feel. The team member is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member may occasionally be required to work in non-permit required confined spaces, unless otherwise trained. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. There is no continual lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision as well as color recognition. Good hand/eye coordination is necessary.

Average hours per week: 48 up to 72

Usual Shift worked is: 12 hours

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is very loud. Team members must wear hearing protection and all other assigned personal protective equipment. Temperature can range from extreme cold (95 degrees). The atmosphere contains fumes, dust, and odors.

Special Hazards:

Mechanical and electrical from machinery.

Exposure to pinch points, cuts, burns, metal dust, and slivers.

Daily work near chemicals that are hazardous and explosive.
