Understanding ABA Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically supported method that improves behavior through the application of behavioral principles. ABA therapy aids individuals with autism and other developmental challenges by enhancing essential skills and overall quality of life.

Your Responsibilities:

As an ABA Therapist, you will:

  • Implement ABA Techniques: Utilize ABA strategies to achieve behavioral objectives and foster student development.
  • Provide Direct Therapy: Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for students using evidence-based ABA practices.
  • Collaborate Effectively: Partner with educators, parents, and school personnel to ensure cohesive and effective behavior management strategies.
  • Maintain Documentation: Keep thorough records and progress reports regarding student behavior and intervention results.
  • Communicate and Support: Offer feedback to parents and guardians about student activities and relay important information to your BCBA (Board-Certified Behavior Analyst).
  • Adapt to Requirements: Travel between schools within the district as necessary to provide therapy sessions and support.
  • Commit to Learning: Show a willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback, while following instructions carefully.

Qualifications We Seek:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with children or adolescents in ABA therapy or similar settings is preferred.
  • Certification: RBT certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong grasp of ABA principles, methodologies, and behavior management techniques is preferred but not essential.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and adapt to the physical demands of the position.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Willingness to Travel: Must be open to traveling between schools within the district as required to provide therapy sessions and support.

Work Schedule and Compensation:

  • Hours: Part-time, Monday through Friday, with hours scheduled between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
  • Pay Range: $22 to $27 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits: Paid time off (PTO) and sick leave.
