Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Assist Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses in the provision of patient care by performing assigned patient care and unit maintenance activities.
  • Provide hygiene needs of assigned patients, including AM/PM care, oral hygiene, and perineal care.
  • Provide nutritional needs of assigned patients, including tray distribution, setting up trays, and offering supplements.
  • Provide elimination needs of assigned patients, including Foley care, bowel movements, and bladder training.
  • Provide skin care of assigned patients, including turning, positioning, and recognizing and preventing skin breakdown.
  • Provide comfort measures, including proper positioning, back rubs, and oral care.
  • Perform additional skills as directed and supervised by the nurse, including intermittent urinary catheterization and clean dressing changes.
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
  • Complete assigned aspects of admission process, including vital signs, height and weight, room setup, and room orientation.
  • Set up equipment for care and store and transfer patient belongings.
Requirements
  • Completion of CNA coursework within the past 24 months or successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.
  • Ability to write, read, comprehend, and speak fluent English.
