MISSION:
The role of the Operator is essential in executing the shell removal and cleaning processes, adapting to the dynamic flow of products and customer requirements. This position involves rotating through various shell removal techniques to enhance operational efficiency and ensure timely delivery of products.
The primary responsibility is to eliminate shell material, core components, and scale from castings and their gating systems using diverse methods.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Responsibilities:
Uphold and demonstrate safe working practices; Confirm lot and part identification along with piece counts; Transport and deliver components to subsequent cleaning operations; Mentor fellow operators in their job responsibilities.Knockout Responsibilities:
Utilize pneumatic and hand-held tools to remove shell material; Extract exothermic materials, insulation, and wires from parts; Employ torches for the removal of tundishes and downsprues.Gritblast Responsibilities:
Secure parts onto fixtures for uniform shell material removal; Set the timer for the gritblasting process; Monitor machinery operations; Eliminate excess shot and wire from parts.Waterblast Responsibilities:
Position parts in the waterblast cabinet; Operate the waterblast machine using manual and automated controls; Conduct visual inspections for foreign materials.Shotblast Responsibilities:
Load castings into the shotblast cabinet; Control the shotblast machine from outside or inside the cabinet; Direct handheld nozzles for effective shotblasting; Inspect parts for cleanliness and mark any defects; Operate rotoblast and tumbleblast machines as required.Chemical Bath Responsibilities:
Prepare chemical baths according to specifications; Collect acid bath samples for laboratory analysis; Calculate etch rates and adjust baths as necessary; Perform chemical cleaning and rinsing of parts; Maintain chemical bath lines and monitor temperatures; Adhere to safety protocols when handling chemicals; Clean tanks and manage hazardous materials responsibly.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
