Job Title: Pre-Access Advocate

At Methodist Health System, we are committed to delivering exceptional care to our patients and communities. As a Pre-Access Advocate, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive timely and efficient care.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for advocating on behalf of patients to ensure they receive the necessary care and services. The Pre-Access Advocate will work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to facilitate the authorization process and ensure that patients receive the care they need.

Responsibilities:
  • Advocate for patients to ensure they receive timely and efficient care.
  • Communicate with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to facilitate the authorization process.
  • Verify patient benefits and obtain authorization using electronic sources.
  • Document medical necessity checking outcomes and generate waiver/Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) as needed.
  • Assist patients with resolving billing issues, refunds, and collection problems.
  • Provide patient assistance with community resources and work with drug companies to secure financial assistance.
  • Manage patient accounts, including setting up payment plans and monitoring payments.
  • Prepare daily deposits and review daily return mail to ensure timely billing of patients.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • Post-secondary education in a healthcare field (e.g., CNA, CMA, etc.) preferred.
  • 2 years of healthcare experience required, including electronic medical records.
  • Registration, insurance, or prior-authorization experience preferred.
  • OB/GYN office experience preferred.
