Job Summary

SSM Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. As a critical care nurse, you will provide direct patient care to individuals requiring complex assessments and interventions. Your expertise will be essential in developing and implementing individualized care plans, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring the highest level of patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain comprehensive data from patients, families, and other healthcare providers to develop a holistic understanding of patient needs or conditions.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to determine diagnoses or conditions relevant to care.
  • Identify optimal patient outcomes in collaboration with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
  • Develop and implement care plans that prescribe strategies and alternatives to attain outcomes, using clinical judgment in collaboration with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
  • Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, evaluate their own practice, and maintain current knowledge and competence.
  • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice, collaborate with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
  • Apply existing evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to critical care nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient age-specific needs and clinical needs.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy Pediatrics (AAP).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
