Cincinnati Insurance Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced excess and surplus lines underwriter.

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $140,000 annually, determined by the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on individual and company performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with producers and an assigned underwriting assistant to solicit, underwrite, and price new and renewal surplus lines commercial property and casualty business.
  • Assess individual risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions.
  • Analyze and evaluate information and exposures for complex risks.
  • Meet production and loss ratio objectives within the assigned regional territory.
  • Operate independently with a high level of authority and judgment.
  • Identify the need for and secure appropriate reinsurance on individual accounts.
  • Mentor and train underwriters and underwriting assistants.
  • Foster successful business relationships with producers and reinsurers.
  • Research new products and coverage forms.
  • Travel within the assigned territory, which may include some overnight stays.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:
  • Experience in property and casualty underwriting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent decision-making, analytical, and negotiation abilities.
  • Desire to build relationships and listen effectively.
  • Able to develop positive working relationships with team members and agents by seeking mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Skilled in verbal communication to explain, negotiate, and present information, with an understanding of when to use verbal or written communication.
  • A valid driver's license is required, and final candidates will undergo a Motor Vehicle Record background check.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or extensive relevant experience in excess and surplus lines underwriting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with commercial lines property and casualty products is required.
  • Prior experience in excess and surplus casualty underwriting with a carrier, broker, or MGA is preferred.
  • ASLI or CPCU designations are preferred.
  • Candidates with a carrier background will be given preference; comprehensive training is provided.
