Job Summary:

The Town of Westwood is seeking a Water Safety Instructor to join our team. As a Water Safety Instructor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality experiences for participants that focus on our core values of safety, fun, responsibility, and respect.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement American Red Cross Programs and presentations as detailed in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety manual.
  • Plan, prepare, and conduct effective and safe swim lessons.
  • Implement emergency protocols as the situation dictates.
  • Enforce facility rules and regulations.
  • Evaluate participants and recommend placement for future classes.
  • Complete course reports and documentation.
  • Ensure the safety of participants and monitor swimming activity to prevent accidents.
  • Perform other related work as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Prior experience working with children in a group setting is desired.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to react quickly and calmly in various situations are essential.

Special Requirements/Certifications:

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification to include CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification.
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This is a part-time, non-benefit position with a starting rate of $18.50 per hour.

Schedule:

  • Flexible hours including week nights and weekend shifts.
  • We will partner with you to create a cooperative work schedule.
