We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Technician to join our team at WellSpan Health. As a Cardiac Technician, you will play a critical role in performing various stress tests and non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Administer treadmill and pharmacological protocols for stress tests, including monitoring, recording, and interpreting EKG tracings for diagnostic purposes.
- Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and respond according to emergency protocols, utilizing BLS skills and obtaining emergency medical equipment.
- Provide care to patients, including obtaining history, assessing patient condition, collecting and interpreting clinical information, explaining procedures, obtaining consent, and providing personal care/hygiene.
- Perform electrocardiograms, possessing knowledge of rhythm recognition to notify physicians of abnormal EKGs and patient conditions.
- Maintain clinical information, entering and retrieving patient data from software applications and EMR specific to testing being done.
- Maintain operational knowledge of Noninvasive Cardiology equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot this equipment.
- Perform clerical duties, including scheduling procedures, inventory management, transport tracking, and answering phones.
- Train and precept new employees.
- Additional training/competency to be completed to independently perform other diagnostic procedures, including EEGs, EECP, and Holter Monitor application and scanning.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certificate Program Education in Cardiovascular Technology or Exercise Science preferred.
- Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.
- Completion of cardiac-related training/certification required upon hire.
This role requires standing, walking, and sitting frequently, as well as carrying/lifting, pushing/pulling, and kneeling/crouching occasionally. The occupational hazards and bloodborne pathogen exposure are also a part of this role.
