Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to join our team at Acadia Healthcare. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and implementing activity therapy programs that promote patient progress and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough activity assessments to identify patient needs, skills, and interests.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic leisure skills, leisure education, and leisure awareness.
  • Lead activity sessions to improve patient mental and physical well-being, including exercise, games, and community outings.
  • Teach patients social skills necessary for independence and modify activities to suit specific groups.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards patients and colleagues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy, or related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in recreation in a healthcare setting, with knowledge of patient population served by the facility.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or equivalent certification.
