Job Summary

The Treatment Nurse provides primary skin care to residents under the medical direction and supervision of attending physicians, Director of Nursing, or Medical Director. This role involves modifying treatment regimens to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents, in accordance with established medical practices, governmental requirements, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, manage, and treat specific skin disorders and primary and secondary lesions.
  • Provide input on assessment and diagnostic services to residents using techniques such as observation, inspection, and palpation.
  • Complete weekly skin assessments of residents and record results with assessment.
  • Provide treatment and therapeutic services per physician orders.
  • Ensure residents with decubitus ulcers receive appropriate prophylaxis and treatment.
  • Provide information to residents and family members on prevention techniques and other ways to maintain or improve general health and psychosocial status.
  • Provide written and/or oral reports and recommendations to attending physicians and complete weekly skin reports for the Director of Nursing.
Requirements
  • Previous nursing or healthcare experience preferred.
  • 1 year experience as a Treatment Nurse in skilled nursing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have an active license in vocational nursing.
