Ophthalmic Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions.

• Prepare patients for exams by obtaining accurate medical histories and performing visual acuity tests.
• Assist ophthalmologists with procedures and maintain a clean and organized environment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care.
• Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices through ongoing education and certification.

• High School diploma or equivalent required; JCAHPO-approved program for ophthalmic assistance/technicians preferred.
• At least one year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant or tech.
• Certification as an ophthalmic technician, with requirements for maintenance every 3 years.
