Logistics Manager Job Description

We are CMI Inc, a family-owned business headquartered in St. Pete, FL, seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead our efforts in employing best practices in all things logistics.

This role reports to the Director of Operations and provides the opportunity to work with a team of hard-driven professionals toward a common goal. We thrive on teamwork and celebrate our successes, focusing on doing right by our clients and each other.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sourcing and Negotiation: Identify and select freight carriers based on company needs and cost efficiency, negotiating contracts and rates with carriers and logistics service providers.
  • Freight Analysis and Optimization: Analyze freight costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction, implementing strategies to optimize freight spend while maintaining service quality.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements in all freight transactions, maintaining accurate and complete documentation for freight transactions.
  • Relationship Management: Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., supply chain, warehouse, and inventory management) to align freight operations with business needs, managing relationships with external vendors, internal coordinators, and third-party freight brokers.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Track and report on freight expenditures and savings, preparing regular reports on freight performance, cost savings, and vendor performance.
Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience in all aspects of logistics
  • 3-5 years of experience with progressive experience managing freight vendors
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, or supply chain; significant work experience may substitute for education
  • Proven success in working with Ocean Freight, Drayage, Road, and Rail carriers
  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • ERP and TMS experience required
