We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Sonographer to join our team at Wellstar Health System, Inc. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases.
- Assist with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams provided by the department per department protocols.
- Set up equipment to provide imaging services and position patients for procedures.
- Verify proper clinician orders for procedures and obtain complete clinical histories.
- Review ultrasound images for clinically acceptable results and release patients.
- Respond to emergency situations and maintain life support equipment.
- Assist other technologists in all modalities when needed.
- Observe patient conditions and evaluate situations when physician intervention is necessary.
- Verify patient identity using two unique identifiers prior to performing procedures.
- Ensure patient privacy and comfort are accommodated.
- Organize schedules, time, and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames.
- Follow physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams.
- Use critical thinking skills and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Graduate of an accredited Sonography Program.
- Registered Medical Sonographer certification.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Flexibility with work hours to meet department needs.
