POSITION PURPOSE

The purpose of the Retail Sales Leader is to embody the Carter's mission, vision, and values, fostering a high-performing team that consistently achieves outstanding results.

The Retail Sales Leader collaborates with the store management team to oversee the overall productivity of their location.


This role includes supporting the management team in driving financial performance through exceptional store standards, effective execution of company strategies, and positive customer interactions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)
People
Communicates professionally and effectively with the team, management, and associates.
Regularly conveys employee concerns to the Store Manager for prompt resolution.
Assists in recruitment efforts; actively seeks candidates and reviews applications to ensure timely filling of open positions.
Provides consistent, real-time feedback to the store team.
Recognizes and rewards outstanding performance to enhance employee engagement.
Receives feedback with a positive attitude and takes appropriate action on that feedback.
Partners with the Store Manager to address performance issues of associates.
Performance
Maintains the Company standard of a neat, clean, and organized store.
Exhibits exceptional customer service behaviors and upholds high standards throughout the store.
Responsible for leading and executing an assigned Division of Responsibility (DOR) through careful planning and follow-through.
Performs Leader on Duty responsibilities by driving results and addressing customer concerns promptly and effectively.
Assists store management in adjusting schedules based on business conditions to maximize sales and productivity.
Regularly communicates with the Store Manager to discuss strengths, opportunities, and trends in business.
Utilizes customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement actions to drive results.
Process
Supports the planning and execution of store processes and merchandise placement efficiently while adhering to brand guidelines.
Assists the store team with Asset Protection through consistent customer service, education, and operational controls.
Executes Company directives within specified timelines, including visual merchandising, signage, markdowns, and sales promotions.
Builds customer loyalty through company-sponsored programs.
Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures as per company standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
High school diploma or GED minimum requirement; Associate's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 1 year in retail store management.
Demonstrated customer engagement skills.
Exhibits strong listening, written, and oral communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Basic computer skills.
Must be at least 18 years old.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift 40 pounds regularly.
Ability to stand for extended periods; climb up and down a ladder.
Frequent walking and standing; regular bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Regular work frequency is required to maintain active employment status.
Changes in availability must be approved by the Store Manager and will be assessed based on business needs.
Scheduled working shifts typically range from 3-8 hours in length (applicable state laws apply).
