Job Summary

The Lead Student Worker is a key role in the food operation, responsible for supervising, training, and managing a team of food service workers. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train food service workers to ensure they are meeting departmental standards and policies.
  • Manage food production, including preparing and serving food, maintaining inventory, and ensuring food safety and quality.
  • Direct daily activities, including scheduling, production, and customer service.
  • Maintain a safe and hazard-free working environment, adhering to health and safety codes and regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair of equipment, and recommend replacement of existing equipment as needed.
  • Supervise and evaluate employees, providing feedback and coaching to improve performance and morale.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, including office staff, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Food Service Director or Manager, including filling in for absent employees and attending food service meetings.
Requirements
  • Must read, write, and understand verbal instructions.
  • Must complete a sanitation course either before or during the first year.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to resolve interpersonal situations.
  • Must be knowledgeable in operating an efficient cost-effective program.
  • Ability to work occasional night and weekend catered events.
